Several strong-scented herbs on shoulder of road. Plants with glandular resin dots throughout. Panicles of spikes, grossly viewed, were light, dullish green. Some cymules, especially toward tips of spikes, were in part pale yellow, much of this color due to young anthers. Mature anthers and freshly released pollen also light yellow. Filaments joff-white, translucent, flattened. Leaves medium green with but a trace of luster. Smaller stems of similar color, shading, below, to a purplish red hue. Stems angular and grooved, decumbent to suberect, several from a fleshy root. Height caculated 2.5 to 4 feet; width somewhat greater. Some other plants close by were Digitaria sanguinalis, Rumex crispus (partly withered), Verbena rigida, Wahlenbergia marginata, and Ipomoea trichocarpa.
