Large north-south fen; multiple ownser; many arms; large expanses of Carex stricta. Fen elongated and amoeboid with many small armas and large amounts of edge. Oak uplands often inserted intro prairie fen as peninsulas. Oftern large amounts of open water due to beaver flooding. Asjacent to railroad that runs the entire length of the fen. Carex stricta/C. leptalea area within wooded fen. Toxicodendron vernix, Larix laricina, Frangula alnus, Rhamnus alnifolia, and Cornus foemina dominate shrub layer. Other herbs include Eutrochium maculatum, Galium asprellum, and Rubus pubescens. Ground seepy next to small spring. Some ground very red due to oxidized iron.
