Growing in a spring pond of about 0.75 acre. The plants were most abundant directly next to springs. The mat was surrounded and intermixed with "chara". The substrate was soft marl. Water depth was 1-2 feet.
Growing in large dense mats. The stems contained numerous adventitious roots along it's length with some white flowers extending above the water.
