Habitat: Off the side of road in a burnt out Ponderosa pine forest near a thicket of Robinia, in a drainage.
Associated Species: Robinia neomexicana, Pinus ponderosa
Description: Common barley, introduced annual planted at roadside as a stabilizer after a fire. Two-rowed barley with rounded lemmas. The lateral florets sterile; the middle florets, ater removed, show a bristle-like rachilla extension beyond thye floret.
